BULGARTRANSGAZ EAD RECEIVES ABOUT BGN 55 MILLION UNDER THE CONNECTING EUROPE FACILITY FOR MODERNIZATION AND EXPANSION OF THE BULGARIAN GAS TRANSMISSION NETWORK

By Decision of the Coordination committed to the Connecting Europe Facility grants EUR 27,185 million for the project "Rehabilitation, Modernization and Expansion of the Bulgarian Transmission System - Phase 2" of Bulgartransgaz EAD.

The activities cover the rehabilitation of two sections of the Northern semi-ring of the gas transmission system of about 81 km total length. Those are sections PF Beglej – VA Dermantsi – VA Batultsi – VA Kalugerovo with 51 km length and PF Valchi Dol – VA preselka of about 23 km.

The funds are provided for the supply, construction and commissioning of the two sections as well as for the related construction supervision activities. The rehabilitation of the sections will ensure a more secure and reliable natural gas transmission. The rehabilitation activities of the sections are envisaged to be carried out in the period January 2019 - June 2022.

The main objective of the project of common interest “Rehabilitation, modernization and expansion of the Bulgarian transmission system – Phase 2“ is the alignment of Bulgartransgaz EAD gas transmission network with the plans for development of the infrastructure in the region. This will ensure a technical possibility to transport additional quantities of natural gas through the country that enter through the existing and new entry and exit points, such as the interconnections Greece-Bulgaria, Bulgaria-Serbia, the Balkan gas hub concept and the plans for expansion of Chiren UGS.
