The capacity products Route 1, Route 2 and Route 3 will be offered with increased capacity
The energy regulators of Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Ukraine and Moldova approved the proposal of the gas transmission operators of the countries for the capacity products Route 2 and Route 3 for the supply of gas from Greece to Ukraine in the period by the end of April 2026. They will be auctioned together with Route 1, which has already established itself on the market, and the auction for January will take place on 22.12.2025. The proposal initiated by Bulgartransgaz EAD to create an opportunity to increase the capacity of the three products by transferring the remaining unbooked capacity at Ruse/Giurgiu to Negru Voda 1/Kardam was also approved.
„The increase in the total capacity and the availability of three complementary route products create additional opportunities for Ukraine to secure the necessary supplies during the current winter season“, the Executive Director of Bulgartransgaz EAD, Vladimir Malinov, commented. „The tariff discounts provided by Bulgartransgaz and the other operators for the purposes of the route products will contribute to meeting the natural gas demand on the Ukrainian market. This is of utmost importance to ensure the security of the energy supplies in the region, he emphasized.
„Having signed the joint proposal at the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy Cooperation (P-TEC) forum in Athens, in the presence of US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, US Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, and the energy ministers from the countries of the region, with today's approval from regulators, we are completing the process of increasing the capacity to meet the needs of Ukraine and the region“. We are grateful for the support for our joint initiative both at European level and from our American partners“, Malinov underlined.
We recall that the Route 1 product, which was approved in May 2025, enables deliveries to Ukraine since July and the interest of the market participants is growing.
