Bulgartransgaz EAD in its capacity of an operator of a natural gas storage facility and in accordance with the Rules for the use of Chiren UGS announces a procedure for the allocation of yearly integrated capacity product for trade storage of natural gas in Chiren UGS for gas year 2024/2025.
In continuation of the approach applied in gas year 2023/2024, the procedure will be held in an electronic environment on the Capacity Booking Platform (the RBP). The use of an electronic platform allocating storage, injection and withdrawal capacity in Chiren UGS facilitates the participants in the procedures and allows them to timely monitor the results from each phase and control dynamically their actions.
The allocation procedure for yearly integrated capacity product for trade storage for gas year 2024/2025 will be carried out on 25.03.2024 in two phases.
Phase 1 starting at 9:00 am will allocate the integrated units. Phase 2 scheduled to start at 9:00 am on the next day (26.03.2024) will allocate withdrawal and injection capacity by months within the integrated units allocated in Phase 1. Participants who received capacity within Phase 1 will be informed in due time of the start of Phase 2 in case Phase 1 takes longer than foreseen.
In accordance with the Rules for the use of Chiren UGS (adopted by Decision under Minutes No.787/12.03.2024 of the meeting of the Management Board of Bulgartransgaz EAD, effective as of 12 March 2024), in Phase 1 the integrated capacity units for yearly capacity product (for a number of units) shall be allocated in an auction using the ascending clock algorithm in accordance with article 17 of Regulation (ЕU) 2017/459. In the event that the total nominated yearly storage products do not exceed the number of the ones determined to be allocated, it shall be considered that all nominated integrated yearly storage products can be satisfied at start price.
The allocation by months of the injection and withdrawal capacity included in the yearly integrated product shall be made within Phase 2 using the pro-rata allocation mechanism in accordance with article 7.7 of the Rules for the use of Chiren UGS.
The requirements for the potential customers and the capacity allocation methodology are in accordance with the Rules for the use of Chiren UGS that are available here and are effective at the time of the conduct of the capacity allocation procedure.

A right to take part in the procedure has every Bulgarian or foreign entity who holds signed and effective Contract for access and transport through Bulgartransgaz EAD gas transmission network and Contract for natural gas purchase and sale for balancing.
To take part in the procedure every potential participant must submit a financial security in accordance with the requirements of item 4.4 of the Rules for the use of Chiren UGS.
Information on the procedure allocating yearly integrated capacity units for storage in Chiren UGS and the next procedures allocating the short-term non-integrated capacity products will be published in a timely manner and in the calendar of the Capacity Booking Platform (the RBP).
