Bulgartransgaz, together with the other operators along the Vertical Corridor, extends the offer of the special capacity products „Route 1“, „Route 2“ and „Route 3“ for the supply of natural gas from Greece to Ukraine for the period by the end of gas year 2025/2026. This becomes possible after receiving approvals from the national regulatory authorities of Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine.
„The continuation of the offer of the route products is of key importance for improving the energy security in the region and ensuring supplies for Ukraine by the end of this gas year against the backdrop of the dynamic geopolitical situation“, the Executive Director of Bulgartransgaz EAD, Vladimir Malinov, underlined. „The extension of this mechanism is a clear signal to the market for predictability and stability and creates prerequisites for a more active participation of the traders and more efficient use of the existing infrastructure in the region“, Malinov further emphasised.
We recall that the operators, together with the European Commission, also developed a long-term market solution to improve the attractiveness of the Trans-Balkan route that will come into force at the start of gas year 2026/2027.
„The successful cooperation between the transmission operators in the region, the regulators and the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission delivers an excellent result in achieving economic efficiency, optimal pricing conditions and ensuring secure and competitive supplies for Southeastern Europe, both in the short and the long term“, Malinov commented.
The three route products will continue to be offered for auction on the regional capacity booking platform by Bulgartransgaz EAD, ICGB AD, DESFA SA, Transgaz SA, VestMoldTransgaz SRS and Gas TSO of Ukraine.
At the auction, which will be held on 22 April 2026, capacity up to 23,7 GWh/d for „Route1“ and up to 36,9 GWh/d in total for „Route 1“, „Route 2“ and „Route 3“ will be offered.
